TRF is committed to building a clean and sustainable energy future for our region. At a time when energy costs are rising and supplies are limited, TRF knows that sustainable energy financing is more critical than ever, especially given the increasing energy burdens on the communities we serve.

From Pollution to Solution

Since 1993, we have helped our customers make wiser decisions about the energy efficiency and sustainability of capital improvements and equipment purchases, while offering innovative financial products and services for

these elements of their plans. In the last five years, TRF has also focused its expertise on the development of clean energy projects and technologies. From wind farms to fuel cells, TRF is financing viable and affordable clean energy options, and forging the partnerships that can bring these options to today’s market.

TRF’s experience in this area is perhaps best evidenced by its success in managing the Sustainable Development Fund, a $32 million energy fund created by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission in its final order in the PECO Energy electric utility restructuring proceeding. 

Eligible Customers

The following are some examples of those who have been eligible for sustainable energy financing through TRF:

  • Renewable energy projects such as wind farms and solar

  • Distributed generation projects such as combined heat and power projects (co-generation), fuel cell installations and clean, efficient uninterruptible power systems.
  • New construction of residential properties or nonprofit-owned facilities that are built to an Energy Star or LEED standard.
  • Energy efficiency retrofits for residential properties or commercial and nonprofit owned facilities that achieve at least a 25% reduction in energy consumption.
  • Energy efficient production equipment for manufacturers that achieve at least a 25% reduction in energy consumption.
